We have had visionary leaders in our small community. Fifteen years ago a group of concerned individuals felt there was a need for culture and arts in the County. Today we have a small and attractive gallery in Carrollton that provides for many residents their first steps toward cultural enrichment. The Carroll County Arts Center focuses on visual and performing arts while serving children and adults.
Cultural activities include art and music programs by the Carroll County Commission for the Advancement of the Arts, the Historical Society, and summer musical events at the , Bluebird Farm Amphitheater.
Parks Recreation and Open Space
Carroll County is fortunate to have a variety of land forms and open space. Located at the boundary of the Appalachian Plateau and the Glacial Plain, the county is in an area of geological transition between the glaciated north and the hills and valleys of the south and east. We are very fortunate to have an abundance of natural resources that define its rural landscape. Large continuous tracts of land both in public and private ownership provide the environments for an abundance of white tail deer, turkey, grouse, dove, beaver and an occasional black bear.
Two large public lakes managed by the Muskingum Watershed District provide boating opportunities and sport fishing while Ohio Department of Natural Resources manage areas for public hunting. The newly formed Carroll County Park District offers a 40+-acre community park on the outskirts of Carrollton, offering open space for community gatherings and enjoyment of nature.
